**Growing conditions:** Montcalm County mixes farmland with lakes and sandy, well-drained ground in much of the county. Sandy soil warms early and drains fast, which suits prairie natives and drought-tolerant perennials once they're established; lakefront lots benefit from native shoreline plantings that slow runoff and hold the bank.

**For businesses here:** Downtown Greenville and the county's smaller towns, lakeside businesses, churches and schools can all have entrances that welcome people in, with plantings that suit sandy ground and need less water.

- Do you work in Greenville? — Yes. Greenville and all of Montcalm County are in our service area.
- What grows well in sandy soil? — Prairie natives like little bluestem, butterfly weed, blazing star and asters do well in sandy, well-drained soil once established, with mulch to hold moisture the first seasons.
- How does a commercial project start? — With a visit to the property, on-site or virtual. We look at sun, soil, drainage, how people arrive and what you want the place to feel like, and then send a plan with clear next steps and a price.
