**Growing conditions:** Nearer Lake Michigan, the lake moderates the weather: later springs, longer falls, lake-effect snow and sandy soil, the conditions that make the area fruit and blueberry country. Lakefront plantings face steady wind and full sun, so we choose sturdy, sun-tolerant plants, as we did for the lakeside deck planters in our case studies.

**For businesses here:** Inns, B&Bs, wineries and tasting rooms, waterfront restaurants and downtown shops benefit most from seasonal displays and gardens guests photograph. Planting is timed to peak through the summer visitor season.

- Do you plant lakefront properties? — Yes. We choose plants for wind, full sun and sandy soil, like the lakeside deck planters in our seasonal displays case study.
- Do you work in South Haven? — Yes, South Haven and the rest of Van Buren and Allegan counties are in our service area.
- How does a commercial project start? — With a visit to the property, on-site or virtual. We look at sun, soil, drainage, how people arrive and what you want the place to feel like, and then send a plan with clear next steps and a price.
