What goes into a planted bed A cross-section of a new bed: two to three inches of mulch, over six to eight inches of garden soil with compost worked in, over the native soil, with plants spaced for their full size. spaced for full size Mulch, 2–3 in holds water, stops weeds Garden soil + compost worked in 6–8 in deep Your native soil roots reach well into it
Good beds start below ground: the soil is prepared before a single plant goes in.

How it works

From first visit to finished planting

  1. Visit and goals

We walk the property, look at sun, soil and drainage, and talk through how people use it and what you want it to say.

  2. Plan and price

You get a planting plan with a plant list and a clear price for installation.

  3. Installation

Our team prepares the beds, brings in soil, plants and mulches, and leaves the site clean.

  4. Care

We hand over a care plan, or keep the planting looking its best with ongoing garden care.

Sarah and her team have helped us both with a landscape design and installation project at a commercial rental property and with residential projects at our house. They are great with response times, organization and they just love all things plants. Really rewarding to work with.

Questions

About commercial landscape design & installation

Do you install the plants yourselves?

Yes. Our team prepares the beds and installs soil, plants and mulch. See the Richland commercial landscape in our case studies.

Do you build patios, walls or walkways?

No. Everything we do is plants: design, soil, planting, mulch and care. If your project needs hardscape, we can plan the planting around it and work alongside your contractor.

How does a commercial project start?

With a visit to the property, on-site or virtual. We look at sun, soil, drainage, how people arrive and what you want the place to feel like, and then send a plan with clear next steps and a price.
