Growing in Kalamazoo County
Much of Kalamazoo County sits on sandy, well-drained ground, and parts of it, like Gull Prairie around Richland and Prairie Ronde near Schoolcraft, were prairie and oak savanna before they were farmed. That makes it good ground for natives that grew here: little bluestem, butterfly weed, coneflowers, asters and prairie dropseed. Sandy soil dries out by August, so plant choice and mulch matter more than watering.
For businesses here
From downtown Kalamazoo storefronts and restaurants to offices, medical buildings and apartment communities near the universities, we design and install plantings, run seasonal display programs and care for gardens across the county.

Seasonal Annual Displays
Seasonal annual color is one of my favorite things to design. A few recent displays from my own landscape and client projects: a shade container with begonias, a summer trough overflowing with sweet potato vine and petunias, a planted window box, and lakeside deck planters. Each one is planted for the season and chosen for its site.
