My Medicinal Herb Garden

Local Residence

Goal

To grow my own medicinal herbs for teas, tinctures, and the kitchen, in a garden as beautiful as it is useful. A place to learn each plant hands on, season after season.

Challenges

Starting from bare ground with young plants meant learning what each herb wanted. Some thrived right away, others needed moving. Learning to harvest at the right moment, and to dry and store everything well, took practice.

Solution

I planted a generous medicinal herb garden and tended it across several seasons, learning each plant's habits and needs. I harvest through the growing season and dry the bounty for teas and tinctures, keeping my own cupboard full and sharing the harvest with clients.

Outcome

The garden is now lush and abundant, a working apothecary that feeds my kitchen and my tea cupboard. Every season teaches me something new, and everything I learn here goes straight into the herb gardens I design for clients.

Sarah and her team have helped us both with a landscape design and installation project at a commercial rental property and with residential projects at our house. They are great with response times, organization and they just love all things plants. Really rewarding to work with.
